We would like to acknowledge and share the news that Coca-Cola is to buy the Costa chain from owner Whitbread, one of our long-standing clients, in a deal worth £3.9bn over the next six months.

The sale of Costa will allow Premier Inn and Restaurants to thrive as an independent company and, with increased management focus and investment, it will be in an even stronger position to deliver Premier Inn’s ambitious growth plans, both in the UK and internationally.

Coca-Cola intend to run Costa as an independent business within their portfolio of brands and Costa will continue to be led by Managing Director, Dominic Paul and his executive team.

This is exciting news for us, as we have been their Approved Inspector for the Whitbread Group for over 20 years and have undertaken many schemes ranging from small two-storey timber frame hotel extensions to major office block conversions, and have worked on multiple Costa shops, Premier Inns and restaurants across the whole of England and Wales.

This is a major milestone in Whitbread’s history, a very exciting opportunity for Costa and puts Premier Inn in an even stronger position for the future.

“This is great news for BRCS, now providing us with two major, but separate clients. This will support the significant plans for Costa in expansion and re-branding and for Premier Inns to also improve and expand its bedroom count.”

Simon Polley, Managing Director
