We have provided Building Control services across England and Wales for our long-standing client Whitbread Group Plc for over 20 years, and two of the latest projects to be completed are the Premier Inn hotels based in Newquay and Penzance, Cornwall.

Construction of the new £7m five storey hotel in Newquay offers a further 83-bedrooms and their Thyme Restaurant. The site on Narrowcliffe, Newquay was previously used as a gravel car park since the former St Brannocks and Tolcarne hotels were demolished in 2018. The new hotel offers some of the most superb cliff top views overlooking the Tolcarne Beach and is ideally located in walking distance to Newquay’s town centre and train station.

The old Granary Mill building near Penzance’s train station has now been converted into a new 61-bedroom Premier Inn hotel and 55 cover restaurant with stunning views out over Mounts Bay.  Working within the confines of as existing building always poses a challenge to create a plan that both complied with the Building Regulations and provided the accommodation necessary, but this was achieved working with the design team. The newly launched hotel created 22 full-time jobs on opening.

“We have successfully completed over 200 Premier Inn’s over recent years and we are delighted that both of these Cornwall hotels have received compliance with Building Regulations, in addition to other hotels at Bude, Wadebridge and St Columb.”
